Kansas City Chiefs vs Oakland Raiders 11/20/14 – NFL Odds & Predictions

Game: Kansas City Chiefs (7-3) vs Oakland Raiders (0-10)

Time: 8:25pm EST

Date: November 20, 2014

The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off a big win over Seattle on Sunday and look to continue their pursuit of winning the AFC West.  Next week they play the Broncos but they first have to overcome a potential trap game in Oakland tonight.

Oakland remains winless in 2014 and they haven’t been able to do much right.  Their defense kept them in last weeks game with San Diego but they still lost 6-13 but are actually 5-5 ATS on the season so bettors that know when to bet the Raiders have done OK.

Kansas City has the hot hand in the AFC and are riding a 5 game winning streak and have covered the spread in all 5 games.  KC is 8-2 ATS on the season but are just 3-7 on total plays.

The reality is the spread should be more than -7.5 points favoring the Chiefs but the public perception is that this game sets up nicely for Oakland at home with the potential that the Chiefs are overlooking this game to next week’s game vs the Broncos.  A prototypical trap game for the Chiefs.

Out of the 5 games that the Raiders have covered the spread, in three of the games they were getting 10.5, 13.5 and 14 points.  All double digit dogs and only once have they covered as a double digit dog and that was in week 3 vs New England as +14 away dogs.

Will rookie QB Derek Car be able to play up to the pressure of notching his first win on a Thursday night, national televised game?  It’s tough to back the Raiders when their offense has struggled to put up points.  The defense should be able to keep the score relatively low but you have to wonder how much this team has left in the tank?

The Chiefs have rattled off 5 straight ATS wins and seem to have found their rhythm.  Andy Reid should have these guys ready to play and while they may struggle early on we fully expect them to pull out a win and cover the -7.5 points.
