Are you ready for some football?

The 2012-13 NFL season kicks off tonight in New York as the Dallas Cowboys face the defending Super Bowl Champions New York Giants. Kick off is at 8:30pm.

The Giants were a mediocre football team last season but played well towards the end of the season with wins over the Jets and Cowboys helped secure the NFC East title.  The rest as they say is history.  The Giants knocked off Atlanta, Green Bay and San Francisco in the playoffs before Eli Manning captured his second Super Bowl MVP award in a 21-17 win over New England in the Super Bowl.  The Giants became the first team to go 9-7 in the regular season to win the Super Bowl.

The Cowboys at one point in the season were 7-4 and on top of the NFC East but lost 4 of 5 to finish the season and two of those losses were to the Giants.  The Cowboys last season and in seasons past, have had trouble beating quality opponents.

Dallas had the busier offseason, upgrading a secondary that was the culprit in so many late-game collapses. The Cowboys signed Brandon Carr to a five-year, $50 million deal from Kansas City and traded up eight spots in the draft to select fellow cornerback Morris Claiborne with the sixth overall selection.

Giants sit at -4 favorites with the O/U at 46.  Oddsmakers opened the defending Super Bowl champs as 3-point favorites back in April. The spread has jump a point at most books and the total has also moved from 47 to 46 points.
