Houston vs. BYU: Odds & Betting Preview

The battle of the Cougars slated for Thursday night as BYU hosts Houston for their home opener.  BYU is coming off two road wins to start the 2014 college football season.  In week 1, BYU went on the road and beat UCONN 35-10 to kickoff the season and turned around and demolished Texas 41-7 on Saturday.

Houston comes into Thursday’s game (1-1) after opening the season losing to Texas-San Antonio in week 1 but beating up on Grambling State, 47-0 on Saturday.

While it looks like BYU is the more dominant team in 2014, there is always reason to believe that BYU could be headed for a letdown.  Last season, BYU needed a late TD pass with a 1:08 left to escape a win vs. Houston 47-46.  The matchup last season featured seven lead changes and BYU racked up 681 yards in the victory.

BYU’s achilles heal are penalties.  In 2013, BYU was the 6th most penalized team in the FBS.  So far in 2014 the BYU Cougars already have 21 penalties called on the team.
