There is No Offseason for NFL Fans

For those of us that are already missing football we lean towards the news in the NFL.  It appears two Pro Bowl and possible Hall of Fame players will not remain with their current teams next season.  Ex-MVP Ladainian Tomlinson was released by the Chargers yesterday.  An expected move due to LT’s decreased productivity from recent injuries.  LT helped revive a struggling San Diego franchise and currently sits 8th all time on the rushing list with 12,490 yards.  In 2006 LT won the MVP after scoring a single season record of 31 TD’s.

Tomlinson appears older than his actual age of 30 but should make for a valuable off season pick up for some team looking for a RB.  While LT isn’t the LT of 2006, he will certainly make a nice addition to a team in need of running support. Look for the Redskins to possibly make a run for LT since Shanahan has taken over.  LT had his way with Shanahan’s Broncos teams of the past so Coach is very familiar with LT.   Will LT be willing to move cross country to a team that year after year has high expectations only to faultier?

Julius Peppers, another All Pro player released by his team will not be returning to the Panthers next season.  While this move is not official, the Panthers did not place the franchise tag on Peppers meaning that Peppers will likely test free agency.  We will know by Thursday but there could be at least 6 teams in the hunt for Peppers’ services.  We know for a fact the Eagles have talked about trading for Peppers in the past and are in need of another DE to help Trent Cole.  We’ll keep you updated.
