Colts vs. Saints in Super Bowl XLIV
The New Orleans Saints will take on Peyton Manning and the Colts in their franchises very first Super Bowl appearance. It’s the first time since 1993 that the top seeds in each conference have gone on to the Super Bowl. Both conference championship games were thrilling in their own right. At one point in the AFC Championship, the Colts were losing to the Jets 17-6 and appeared to be in trouble. The Colts went on to score 24 unanswered points and held the Jets to 0 points in the 2nd half to secure a win 30-17.
New Orleans had a tougher task in a game that was back and forth the entire game. The Vikings and Saints were tied with 2 1/2 minutes to go and the ball in Brett Favre’s hands. As the Vikings marched down the field it was becoming evident that one of the greatest QB’s in the history of the NFL had a chance to get in FG range. With 19 seconds left in the game the Vikings committed a 5 yard penalty leaving a 3rd 15. With 7 seconds left Favre threw an interception to Porter killing the drive and Super Bowl hopes. Hartley kicked a 40 yard FG in OT to secure the Super Bowl birth for the New Orleans Saints.
Favre took several shots throughout the game and appeared to be hobbled by the hits. While the Vikings didn’t win a chance to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, we can’t say enough about the 40 year old Brett Favre. A remarkable season and possibly career, but we can’t say the Vikings didn’t have opportunities. Minnesota lost 3 fumbles and recovered 3 more with a total of 6 fumbles and Favre threw 2 INT’s. The time of possession favored the Vikings who will now have to figure out their 2010 QB situation while all fans wait in limbo for another off season saturated with talks of Brett Favre’s return.
Super Bowl XLIV should be an offensive highlight reel. An MVP quarterback that has experience in the big game vs. an explosive team in the Saints that make their first Super Bowl appearance. Tune in February 7th for two super sized offenses that take the field in Miami.

Vegas just came out with the spread today and they have it at Indy -4. I actually thought that it would be closer than that at around 2 or 2 1/2. Think I’ll have to give the points and take Manning and Freeney. These guys are straight winners!!

We are totally excited about Sunday’s game. We’re in for great duel. I’ll take the New Orleans Saints in a blow out.

Well since Freeney has a sprained ankle it will be very tough for him to plant and explode. If he plays, and it’s still an if, he will not be as effective as he typically plays. Sure they can shoot him up with cortizone but eventually that will wear off. If he doesn’t play all Colts fans should be disgusted since NFL players are supposed to be “tough”. Go Saints!

The Saints have been one of the best if not the best offensive team in football this year. Their defense is solid as well as special teams. Any time you have Bush returning punts you have a chance to return one for a TD. With that being said, Manning and the Colts have been here before and won. This is the Saints first Super Bowl appearance and they will be nervous, book it. They have tons of pressure since this is their first trip and the entire state of LA will be backing them, if not most of the country. If Brees wins this game he should be given his dues as one of the best in the game. He turned around the franchise in a time of need. It sure will be hard to beat Manning and get him off his game, which is why the Colts win in a shoot out.

Ummmm Da Colts defense hasn’t been playing without three main starters for a long time. Powers didnt play vs The Jets, so he could heal. Brocks ultimately a starter just not at DE because Freeney and Mathis are so good. The Saints on the other hand have a poor defense and Manning will light them up. Everyone knows Brees will fumble atleast once. Take a look at his record, he lost 6/10 fumbles for the season. The saints defense will blow it for them. On the other hand The Colts defense has gotten better each game. The saints arent very good closers, the Colts are the best at playing 60 mins. Colts by at least 2 tds.
