The 2009 Major League Baseball playoffs get underway tomorrow with the divisional series and the Documented Handicappers have your odds and opening game winners.

The NL East champion Philadelphia Phillies host the NL Wild Card winner Colorado Rockies in an NLDS Wednesday afternoon (3pm EST, TBS).  Bodog has the home team Phillies as -130 favs and the Over/Under set at 8.  The Phillies and Rockies last meeting in the playoffs was in 2007 when the Rockies swept the Phillies on their way to the World Series that year.  However, the Phillies won both season series this year going 4-2 in 2009 vs. the Rockies.  The defending World Series champions will send Cliff Lee (7-4) to the hill Wednesday as the Rockies send Ubaldo Jimenez (15-12).  This should be one of the best divisional series match ups in the playoffs this year.  Expect the Phillies to take this series 3-2. 

Also on the slate for Wednesday the St. Louis Cardinals open up against the LA Dodgers in Los Angeles (9:30pm EST, TBS).  Bodog lists the St. Louis Cardinals as -140 favs and the Over/Under is set at 7.  The Cards send Chris Carpenter (17-4) to the mound while LA will start Randy Wolf (11-7).  St. Louis has won the season series going 5-2 vs the Dodgers.  Both teams have stumbled a bit towards the end of the season with the Cardinals going 2-8 L10 and LA going 4-6 L10 games.  The Dodgers ended the regular season with the best record in the NL boasting 95 wins.  The Rockies were hot on their trail towards the end of the season but LA was able to hold them off and secure the NL West and home field advantage throughout the playoffs.  St. Louis has two aces in Carpenter and Wainwright and should take the series 3-2.
