Full Court Press - College Basketball Heaven

College basketball is in full swing with some serious action this weekend and an opportunity to make some coin. There are five games between teams in the Top 25 which we have highlighted below.

#1 Pittsburgh Panthers (16-0) vs. #20 Louisville Cardinals (12-3)
This may be Pitt’s first challenge of the season as they travel to Louisville. Pitt had a dominating performance over Georgetown on the road so they have proved to be road worthy. Louisville had a couple impressive wins over Villanova and Notre Dame which means they may now be starting to play up to their potential. Sam Young, DeJuan Blair and Levance Fields will have to elevate their game against an athletic Louisville team.
Projected Outcome: Could this set up for Pitt’s first loss of the season? Louisville has won 4 straight games so what a better time to play the #1 team. The line has not been released yet but we would take the points.

#3 Wake Forest Demon Deacons (15-0) vs. #9 Clemson Tigers (16-0)
This is a huge game in the ACC as two undefeated teams face off half-way through the season. Wake Forest recently flexed their muscles taking down North Carolina. Wake is the only team in the country that ranks in the top 5 in both offense and defense efficiency. Clemson is tied with Wake for 2nd in the ACC and it appears that Clemson isn’t gaining the national attention as other top dogs in the conference.
Projected Outcome: This should be a battle as typical with top teams in a top conference. Look for Wake to prove to be too much for Clemson but it will be a battle.

#12 Georgetown Hoyas (12-3) vs. #2 Duke Blue Devils (15-1)
Talk about a battle of titans. This is the best out of conference game this weekend. Georgetown has had some up and down games but recently proved too much for Syracuse at home. Duke is well rounded on both offense and defense. If Georgetown is unsuccessful beyond the arc they sometimes have trouble adjusting. It’s very tough to win in Cameron Indoor Stadium and Duke always plays well against top opponents.
Projected Outcome: It’s tough to see Georgetown emerging as a winner. Look for Duke to impose their will again and be too much on offense and defense for Georgetown to handle on the road.

#13 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (12-4) vs. #8 Syracuse Orange (16-2)
Syracuse is coming off a tough road loss against Georgetown. Syracuse has had some nice early season wins over Florida, Kansas and Memphis but they could still be a bit over rated. Notre Dame on the other hand got it given to them by Louisville and North Carolina but were able to beat Georgetown and Texas. Notre Dame is led by the beast Luke Harangody who ranks in the top 5 in both points and rebounds; he is a double-double machine.
Projected Outcome: If Syracuse plays anything like they did in Georgetown they will be in for another loss. If Syracuse finds a way to knock down the outside shot and become more efficient, this should be a solid game. We like Notre Dame to squeak out a winner here.
