2010 NCAAB Final Four Predictions
March Madness is almost over as the Final Four approaches on Saturday. The 2010 NCAA Tournament has been full of surprises and we would love to know the percentage of America that predicted a Final Four consisting of Butler, Michigan State, West Virginia and Duke? Duke is the only #1 seed that made the Final Four and many people may have predicted this considering they most likely had the past of least resistance. Here is the Documented Handicappers Final Four blog predictions.
Butler vs. Michigan State
Butler was probably the most unlikely candidate to reach this year’s Final Four. A stunning victory over Syracuse solidified their recent tournament history as tournament killers. Although the Bulldogs were a preseason Top 15 ranked team, a lot of people had them exiting in the 1st round vs UTEP. Butler has a current win streak of 24 games have not lost in 2010. All positive indicators heading into the Final Four with virtually home court advantage in Indy. Michigan State is almost expected to make tournament runs with head coach Tom Izzo. In the NCAA Tournament is when coach Izzo shines. Back to back Final Four appearances for Michigan State as they look to make another trip to the national championship game. While Butler has home court advantage, this may actually be a disadvantage considering the stresses involved with their first Final Four appearance on top of it being in their home city. Look for Michigan State to pull off a victory and head back to the national championship game.
West Virginia vs. Duke
West Virginia was considered one of the hottest teams heading into the NCAA Tournament after winning the Big East tournament. Many thought they should have gotten the #1 seed over Duke, however, when Duke won the ACC tournament the committee felt it was only right to give Duke the #1 seed. This may give West Virginia a little added motivation against the Blue Devils. West Virginia is making it’s first Final Four appearance since 1959 led by Joe West. The Blue Devils led by pesky defense and the "Big 3" in Jon Scheyer, Nolan Smith and Kyle Singler. Due to Duke’s season struggles playing on the road, many felt Duke would have been knocked out earlier in the tournament. Well Duke is headed to the Final Four and last time I checked they still had Coach K. This is a big advantage and as great a coach as Bob Huggins is, he has only been to the Final Four once and lost. West Virginia’s length and athletic ability should give Duke problems but as always look for it to be a close game with Duke squeaking out a victory with solid free throw shooting and by knocking down 3’s.
There you have it, the Documented Handicappers have a National Championship mathchup of Michigan State vs. Duke. Be sure to check back for our NCAAB National Championship selection.
